African young women, a key population in HIV that represent a growing share of people living with HIV worldwide, but adherence to HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) reamains low in this population. Differenciated PrEP-adherence support strategies to avoid HIV acquisition are a fundamental to curve new HIV acquisitions in women.
Trees on farms are an important source of micronutrient-rich foods, yet their contributions to people’s diets remain poorly quantified. Using data collected in rural Malawi, this study shows how different uses of on-farm trees for food, income, and fuelwood are positively associated with women’s micronutrient adequacy.

This study implies that greater women empowerment may not always act as a stronger determinant of contraceptive use. Other contributing factors such as age, education and religion should be considered.
